“Kill the Chill” is a community service project sponsored by Youth Venture, an organization dedicated to helping teens make positive changes in their communities.  The venture is coordinated by a group of Key Clubbers from Evergreen High School in Seattle.  The idea for “Kill the Chill” spurred from the awareness of homelessness around the White Center area.  The homeless population is often a great need for care and warmth, especially during the winter season.  Thus, making scarves will alleviate both of these needs significantly.

The goal of the project is to make fleece scarves and distribute them to the needy through organizations such as the White Center Food Bank, Gospel Mission, and Boomtown Cafe.  Then sponsorships and donations will be collected to ensure the sustainability of the venture.  Hopefully, this will become an important tradition for Key Club and Evergreen.

Not only will this venture benefit the homeless, but the community as a whole as well.  By engaging over sixty Key Club members in this endeavor, the students involved will gain greater sense of connection to their home community and also have an opportunity to network with a group of fellow peers who also share a passion for service.  Accomplishing the project will inspire other youth to start their ventures.
